  • Reseting password for Domain Controller with Server 2003 R2?

Long story short, I just started as the IT for a company whose previous IT just up and left one day. He also left with the only administrator password.

We have a cluster environment here, with all 6 servers running either the 32 or 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition R2. I was able to get local control over all the servers using the Offline Password Recovery Disk (that thing has been a lifesaver for many years...), but now I'm stuck.

Have tried using the procedure outlined for reseting the domain password with in server 2003 and have tried different derivatives of the AppParameters string value (which was suggested by another IT here locally), but no go. The password does not clear, and when I log back on locally on the domain controller the cmd pops up with this error:

'The request will be processed at domain controller for the domain (our domain).

    System error 5 has occurred.

    Access is denied.'

I haven't been able to find any documention with this particular message.

Thoughts? Ideas? Questions? Please help! We have no control over our own network.
