  • Printer Reports on Users??

    Hello,

Im having a DC which are more then 100 users connected on it.
We also have 4 LAN printers that are connected through the server.
I would like to ask does anyone have experience with a open source free software which allows to collect me reports on how much and who is printing?
Like generating a report.. i saw some programs but they're to expensive so im looking for a open source one.

The lowest cost budget cheap solution is in windows event viewer system log, it shows a record of who and what has been printed (spooler info events need to be enabled in the print server properties. which i think is on by default anyway in windows 2008 ) you could export the log to excel and manipulate the data for a report quite easily.

The best free and opensource solution is a cups server - http://cups.org
