  • another licencing question

A client has a HP laptop with Win7.
For whatever reasons, they wish to do a fresh Win7 install. Not a factory restore from the partition, but an actual install.
the laptop has a W7 licence sticker on it.
"Windows 7 Pro OA" HP and a licence code
    IT doesn't state OEM.

Could I use a Technet, or EOpen iso to do this install ?

    Re: another licencing question

There's a small file on every Windows 7 installation DVD identifying the installation media as "OEM", "Retail" or "Volume". The key on the sticker is certainly an OEM key, and non-OEM media will most likely reject the key as invalid.

Why not just try it in a throwaway VM? No need to activate or even complete the installation, just enter the key and see if it works.
