  • VNC Doesn't work on 2003 after using Remote Desktop

    Hi all

We have had this problem for a while now. When we try to use VNC on a 2003 server after someone has used remote desktop it doesn't work. But if you use VNC after a reboot it does work.

I have tried this on about 5 different servers and they all do the same thing. When you use VNC you just get a black screen.

But if you have VNC connected (black screen) then use remote desktop to connect to the console of the server, VNC starts to show the screen and you can use the mouse and keyboard through VNC and remote desktop!!!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Is this link of any help to you : http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc...ry/049043.html

    It says :

Problem connecting to VNC 4 Service running on Windows 2003 server
Known issue with RD. VNC (Free Version) cannot connect to a Windows >>machine
    >>until it is rebooted after using Fast User Switching or Remote Desktop.

10 points for Hagar!! That fixed the problem (well temporarily). For those who don't want to read the whole post, log into the affected server with terminal services, open a command prompt and type:

      Code:
      TSCON 0 /DEST:console
And that resets the console and tada! VNC works again.

      Thanks again
