  • Anti-Virus Scanning

Im in the process of setting up Sophos Enterprise Console Anti-Virus & I need to set the scanning policies up.

Does anyone have any information they can share about what not to scan?

I have contacted Sophos for a best practise guide & they have been less than helpful as they have nothing.

Someone mentioned not to scan the following items:

    SQL DB files
    LOGS
    SYSVOL folder on DC's

    Can anyone help out?

No specific help with Sophos, but remember to add Exchange database files and messages in the transport and other queues (unless using a specialised Exchange scanner)

Also exclude HyperV (a)vhd(x) files (and presumably the equivalent for other hypervisors

There do seem to be a number of best practice guides according to
You may have seen these already and I doubt if all are relevant but...

      Re: Anti-Virus Scanning

      Thanks,

Ive read most of the Sophos best practises but unfortunately they appear to have shy'd away from writing one on scanning files. They just say Sophos is set up in the best way possible by default.

This is a bit of a naff statement to make as every system has their own unique setup which is why I think they haven't bothered to write one.
