  • Logon to SharePoint over the internet

I published a SharePoint 2007 site on the internet. External users can access the site using their internal AD account. When they use a computer that's not in the domain, they have to add de domain to the logon name, like mydomain\john.

Some users reported that it didn't work. After a few hours searching for a solution I found out that they had to type the domain in capitals MYDOMAIN\john.
I was just wandering why some users have to type it that way, and others can just use normal letters... Someone has an answer to that?

How is the External URL published to External users?

Have you reviewed the Alternate Access Mappings (AAMs)?
