MAPS no longer exists as it used to. It is now a TechNet sub where you get the media (MAPS by stealth).
      TechNet Standard
TechNet Professional (you download the software)
TechNet Professional with Media (eg MAPS)
I would suggest you consider door number 2 as that provides 2 free support calls instead of 1 for the Standard option.

Suggest you get someone in the USA and use their address to purchase a copy as it is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper there even though we are still better than parity with the $. Guess it must cost more to send ones and zeros to OZ than other countries.

Not quite the same as MAPS, even though delivery is the same way

Technet Pro includes licenses for all products (except MSDN) for testing/evaluation only
MAPS (still exists, although may be renames) gives 10 workstation and one (standard) server license for operational use

MS require a "test" to make you eligible to subscribe, though they seem to change their minds about this a bit.

          Andy:
Action Pack Solution Provider (download software): 370 AUD
Action Pack Solution Provider (download + physical media): 530 AUD

As Tom says, MAPS gives you 10 licences and allows you to use the software in your business. TechNet gives you 5 licences and can only be used for testing purposes. However, TechNet gives you acces to everything MS has (DOS 6.22 and up ) whereas MAPS is limited to the current software. My first MAPS had Windows 2000 whereas now you will get Windows 7. The Windows 2000 licence was replaced first by XP, Vista and then by Windows 7. I am no longer legally allowed to use Windows 2000, XP or Vista (a bonus there) from the MAPS pack. I can still use TechNet to test Windows 2000 with newer software. The first MAPS purchase used to have a really nice surprise in it as well. I don't know if they still do it as I only get renewals/updates.

Yep, same as TechNet. With MAPS, as soon as the Subscription expires or the operating system is replaced (eg. Vista to Windows 7 ) you are legally required to stop using it.
