    Re: delete

Where have you deleted it from?
    XP system?
    Windows 2003 Server?
Is there a backup of the file?
Was it deleted across a network?
If a 2003 server is Shadow Copy enabled?
Was the deleted file on FAT32 or NTFS partition?
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.
    1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
    2 2 1 1 2

If I understand correctly, you delete the file from a computer running Windows XP Pro. Sorry, but I have no idea what you mean with most of your quote I have included above.
Have a look at the following Google link (a very useful search engine). http://www.google.com.au/search?sour...le+recovery%22

Download Tuneup utilities from http://www.tune-up.com/ it has a very good undelete file utility where you can specify the the filename for undeletion and it will tell you if it is able to undelete or not . you can download and run it as a trial for 30 days in which time you'll be able to undelete the file.

Sorry dont mean to advertise anyones products but i have used the undelete utility which it comes with numerous times altho i havent used it on NTFS as of yet. Its worth a try

                  Re: delete

You'll probably find that Windows has re-used the space which was left empty with the delete.

The only really sure way of retrieving the data no would be to send the drive to a recovery specialist which will end up costing a fair few pennies.

If this ever happens then you need to switch off the PC immediately and run the recovery tools with the drive connected to another PC.
