  • Doom On Win 7

    Hi,

I am trying to run Doom: Collector's Edition but when I get it I get a "Dplay.dll cannot be found on your computer..." error message ... yes I know it's old but it's still great fun IMO

My OS is Win 7 Pro 64 and I have tried the following:

    * Running it native under Win 7 64
    * Running it in compatibility mode (XP & 9x)
    * Running it in native under Win 7 32 (different machine, various compatibility modes)
    * Running it in a virtual machine (VirtualBox) running XP 32 bit & Win 7 32Bit

Usually it's the message above but on the virtual machines it simply won't install at all.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    OK ... forget that!

I found out that by copying a file dplayx.dll to the relevant directories and renamed to dplay.dll works ... ain't the internet great?

Now all I want is to make the mouse work in the game, LOL

      Re: Doom On Win 7

I play D3 on my Win7 system and luckily never had a display issue. I have had mouse issues, though. I use a Logitech G500 and have to turn the speed waaaay down (using the buttons on the mouse) before it is useable.
