  • One IP Address 4 Multi Purpose?

    HI Guys,

Can I use one Public IP Addess for Multi Purpose such as MS Exchange, VPN Connection and Site Hosting?

If yes, then what are the tools used to do that?

    Thanks,

Yes. Use Port Forwarding on the router.

I really recommend http://www.trainsignal.com for learning how to do all this. Their computer base training (CBT) videos are absolutely excellent in showing you what to do and how it is done.

Re: One IP Address 4 Multi Purpose?

To give you a basic understanding of port forwarding....

        Example
        Your File Server is 192.168.10.5
        Your Exchange Server is 192.168.10.10
        Your Web Server is 192.168.10.15

Web Traffic coming to your External IP needs to reach a website which is running on port 80 on the webserver. SMTP Emails are coming in and need to get to the Exchange server on port 25. And you want terminal service access to the file server on port 3389.

In your router you would have a port redirect set ...
Service name Protocol Public Port Private IP Private port
        Website1 TCP 80 192.168.10.15 80
        terminalsrv TCP 3389 192.168.10.5 3389
        SMTP TCP 25 192.168.10.10 25

How you set the values depends on the router.
