  • Home web server with ADSL

Looking for help setting up a home web server. Here is what I have ...

    Win 2000 Server running IIS
Speedtouch ADSL Modem connected to net

I am wanting to host a web site from my home pc but don't know how to set up my modem and w2k server to do this. My main aim at the moment is to be able to see a basic web page hosted on my home pc from my work pc (or any pc for that matter). I don't have a hub and assume I won't need one since I only have one pc at home. Do you have any suggestions or links to useful sites for tips.

You will need to open port 80 on the router and point it to the local IP of your Win2K PC

You will also need a fixed IP address or use one of the dynamic DNS services such as dyndns.

If you have a domain name already registered, you will need to make sure that its IP address is pointed either to your fixed IP or to your dynamic DNS name

At this point everything should (in theory) work!
