  • Recovering from a host failure using Veeam instant recovery

    Hi,

Looking to implement a solution where by our working host replicates to a secondary host using Veaam incremental backups. If host 1 fails then the solution would be to spin up Veeam VM instant recovery and run the necessary VM's - great.

My thoughts go to issues with authentication on getting the vm's up given the fact that potentially everything could be down - DC,DNS - the lot. Am I over thinking this and will cached credentials allow me to log in and start the servers up or is there a belt an braces solution I could implement to cover me on this scenario?

    Thanks

What OS are the hosts running?
If HyperV, a domain member HyperV host can (IIRC since Server 2012) boot without a DC/DNS available. Not sure about ESX
