  • MP4 Player for Windows Media

Regrettably, Microsoft has yet to offer an update that will allow the playing of MP4 videos. http://www.downloadatoz.com/codecs/w...-mp4-codec.php offers a download but how can one get independent verification of its safety? Seeking guidance.

Dump it in a Virtual Machine and test it?

I use VLC, which will play just about anything and is free. As a last resort Quick Time also supports mp4, although I have yet to find an mp4 that the current version of VLC will not play.

I use VLC too. The great thing about VLC is that it does not rely on the codecs being available from the OS: the codecs are built into VLC making it a versatile media player.
