  • Backup Comparison

I am looking for a utility that will enable me to compare two folders (including subfolders) let's call them A and B. The utility will loop through all files in A, and if the file exists in B, will delete it from B.

At the end of the operation B will only contain files that are NOT in A.

The purpose of the exercise is this:-

We make a daily backup using MS Robocopy without the /PURGE option. In time the backup can get very big.

We intend to make a copy of the backup filesystem at month end and then run Robocopy with the /PURGE option.

The required utility will loop through the purged backup and remove all its files from the copy backup leaving only those files deleted last month.

OK it's not difficult to write such a util but file numbers are large and optimisation could well be a problem.
