  • Non Stop Viruses

Hello guys. Once again i need your advice. I have a use in my office that keeps getting the same virus over and over. Let me explain to you: about 2 months he was working with vista, then he had the first virus problems. we took the decision to install the new Windows 7, with a new set of software witch inculde NOD32 antivirus. About 1 months, the NOD32 warns him that is infected with the same virus that was infected the first time (Win32.VIRUT). After i cleaned up his laptop, he was forced to reinstall all the software. About 2 days, surprise, the same warning with the same virus. When i cleaned up the first time i notice some trojans, that where deleted. I don't know what to do, i have tried many other antiviruses, but i can't secure his laptop. I even make a restricted user. What solution do i have? Thank you.

did you format the machine before installing windows?

If so then it is strange that the virus came back when you had an active AV software on there.
I would format and reinstall the OS,install the AV software and windows updates.
Make sure you do all the updates for AV and windows while the machine is in an offline state. Only connect to the network when everything is patched and up to date.

Done all that, but is the same virus. My first ideea was that is a trojan that opens backdoors for this virus. But i use different scanners to remove them (the trojan and the virus).

Check his history log; see what websites he's going to. Also scan his USB drives. Maybe he's putting the virus on the computer unknowingly.

            Re: Non Stop Viruses

Usual advice for viruses on a LAN:
Shut everything down, clean one machine at a time (whether or not it shows symptoms) then, once everything has been cleaned, start up one at a time and re-clean a few times

Don't forget to turn OFF System Restore before the cleaning process.

I went for the easy solution, and restore the OS from a clean backup. I hope that the malware doesn't come back. Thankyou for all the advices.

                  Hi!

Also it`s very recommended to turn off autoplay. If this is domain enviroment you can easily do it via GPO...
