  • Computer Freeze (not software)

    OS: W2K CPU: 1100MHZ RAM: 512K

Computer freezes and have to reboot several times a day, so I reformatted and it still was freezing after format just on updates and random software. Am I correct to assume this must be a hardware issue? It has two harddrives, I tried each individually, still freezes. What am I left with as a cause and how do I test this???

If it freezes randomly and sometimes just after you have switched your PC on then I would say it's faulty RAM. Try using 1 module at a time to identify the faulty one.

If it only freezes after you have been running for a while my second guess is that it's overheating. Are you running an AMD on Intel CPU ? Highly likely overheating if you are using an AMD, try getting more air around the system or upgrade your heatsink\fan.

check that your display card is working properly.if it has a fan on it, check that it is working.
