    backing up with NT

    i havwe a strange problem...

    i want to use the NTBackup to back up some files...

    the problem is the ARCServe is working fine with my DLT Tape.

    and the Backup of ms write me :

    There is no unused media on selected type.

    well, i tried to format the dlt tape in the restore menu but it didnt work,
    i tried to format it in ARCServe as well and yet the messae appeares again...

    anyone ha an ida ?

    You might have to use Removable Storage to add your tape to the Backup media pool!

    Try:

    Start --> Programs --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management Storage --> Remoavable Storage --> Physical Locations --> "Drive" --> Media and chose Prepare in the available media.
    Start off another backup.

      you r8...

      i have only one tape but he apper the 3 times, but al disabled i think (big red X on them)

      i couldnt enable them and even if i know how which is the right one... i have:

      1)BNCHMARK DLT1 SCSI Sesquential device
      2)BNCHMARK DLTtape(tm) DLT1/VS80 Drive
      3)BNCHMARK DLTtape(tm) DLT1/VS80 Drive

      how do i enabled at least on of them....

      p.s

      in the media the dlt appea... 10x for the help so fast

        arcserve disable the support for Removable Storage
        (the versions where i worked with)

        you need to choose which program you want to use.
        if arcserve, then leave it.

        it NTbackup, you need to change option who has control over the drive (there is an shortcut in you're arcserve dir, where you can configure who controls the drive. if im back on bussiness (next monday) i can give a short look at it..)
