do you have a personal firewall on the windows 98 computer?

by default you need port 5631,5632 to be open
          Good Luck

Have you installed SP2 on the XP system? Has the firewall been modified for the PC Anywhere ports?

                ill explain,

the firewall has the PCAnywere remote and host in his approved list.

i dont know how to check if the ports are open BUT !

i have the same prob on a win98 computer, and im sure that the router is configured fine bcz it worked for me b4 i formated the computer (on the same one!)

if u have any ida, plz help!

p.s , i chkd the symantec support page, and it said things on port forwarding and router probs... i think its just somthing about my configuration but hey, if u think somthing eles should work let me know

if you have a central router/firewall then you have to assign a fixed ip to the computer that holds the pcanywhere and configure port forwarding on the router/firewall from the external ip to the ip of the pcanywhere`s computer on ports 5631,5632.

make sure the the pcanywhere`s computer doesn't have personal firewall.
if it does have then open the ports above.

maybe there are configuration on the router/firewall that points to the old ip of the old computer.
maybe after you formated the computer you changed its ip address.
                  Good Luck
