  • Boot DVD...Howto???

    Hi,

I've just slipstreamed my copy of XP Pro with SP2, and plan to burn it to CD. However, the final size is over 800Mb, which doesn't fit onto a CD.

With that in mind, I thought about burning it onto DVD. Unfortunately, the version of Nero I have doesn't support Boot DVDs, so I downloaded a trial version of one from the web. This software looks for a boot image (.IMG) file, which I've extracted from the original CD.

After I burn the DVD, and try to boot from it, it comes up with a "Cannot boot from CD. Error 5" or similar.

Has anyone any ideas what this means, or of a way to create a bootable DVD?

    Cheers
    MJ

Nero version 6 will do it for you. Butt i think you do something wrong with your sliptream XP. 800MB
You can delete from your XP files that you will never use...

Yeah, the original CD that came with the machine has a lot of other info. on it that I plan to keep, hence the size.

I'll redo the slipstreaming in case something went wrong in the process.

Check that the settings in Nero are correct. The following link has screen shots of the settings to compare to your own setup. http://www.justinwojas.com/bootcd.htm
