    morning, all
Just looking over one of our remote Windows NAS boxes and I spotted there's two instances of smsdog.exe running ...... which I've never heard of before!

I've done the usual google session etc but no joy so far. Has anyone run across this before?

    Cheers.

Hmm. Which directory are they running from? Anything in the properties of the file itself?
    cheers

      Hi Greycat,

I think you need to get that sorted. Cats 'n Dogs don't really get on
On a more serious note have you tried Process explorer to shed more light into it?

ah-ha! I've rumbled it Apparently it's part of the HP monitoring services etc which come pre-bundled with the OS.

Cheers for the pointers though, guys.

L4ndy - good one. I see what you did there lol

          Glad you found it.
Out of interest, is that like a SMS notification (Text) related service of some sort by any chance?

I'd hoped as much but no. It's Server Monitoring Service or something like that instead.

No problems. I'm just happy it was an easy one and distracted me from writing DR plans.
