  • Where do I use this RAM?

I've been given a few RAM modules with the code "HYS72T256020HFN-3-7-A". It is a 2GB PC2-4200 module. Eventhough it is a 240-pin module, like other RAM modules which I have, it does not fit into a standard RAM slot as the cut-out groove in the middle-ish of the module does not line up with any sockets or other 240-pin RAM chips which I have.

So where do I use these? Thanks.

Definately DDR2 not DDR? The modules are the same size but the notches don't match.

      Google showed " 2gb 2Rx4 PC2-4200F 533mhz Fbdimm memory " from Dell

I just googled the code, the source was a sales site so no link.

Sorry but you will have to do the reading.

Thanks Biggles, but all those links came up as visited (I did read most of them!) when I clicked your link.

I can't find a reference as to why the notch is in a different place to standard DDR2 and which motherboards it will work in. If anyone knows, pls let me know as well- thanks.

Are there two notches? One notch designates it as ECC, the other notch designates the voltage. I can't tell you which is which or what mobo it goes in as I don't deal with hardware that often. Based on the Google results it looks like it's for a Dell server so I'm not sure why it won't fit. Have you tried calling Dell?

                http://www.qimonda.com

It's DDR2 Fully Buffered memory by Qimonda. What's your motherboard / system model?

                Also, it's a . not a - between the 3 and 7.
