  • 320 x 200 Video Driver

My 19 in Hanns-G flat screen monitor with Windows XP fails to display any old DOS graphics software, which earlier CRT monitors could always handle. I need to run DOSBOX first to solve the problem. It will display programs produced with Free Basic. Someone in a Free Basic Forum suggested the reason is because I do not have a video driver capable of handling the old 320 x 200 displays. I should add I was never supplied with any video drivers for this Hanns monitor, only a Manual on the CD.

Does anyone know where I can download a safe 320 x 200 video driver and how to install it with Windows XP?

    Thanks

    Re: 320 x 200 Video Driver

I think what they is the driver for the video card inside your computers not the drivers for your monitor. I've never ran into an instance where you would need the drivers for a monitor.

      Thanks.

But the Motherboard software appears to always include video drivers, and when not available I have known higher pixel screen displays such as 1024 v 768 and higher to be missing on the PC. So presumably motherboard software must include the necessary video drivers but not the old 320 x 200.

        Re: 320 x 200 Video Driver

The video drivers may give you the required 320 x 200 though on a 19" flat screen (assuming this is a CRT given the "other CRT" reference. You need to tell us what the video chipset is so the appropriate drivers can be located. I also assume (doing too much of that in this thread) that the video is on the motherboard and not an actual video card. That resolution is going to look like crap on a screen that size.

So, we need the make/model/manufacturer of the motherboard (or video card) so a driver can be looked for.
