  • Which graphics card???

I'm looking into a new PC but the graphics card has got me in a spin. I'm looking at the Asus EN8800 range but can't figger out which is better; the GT, GTS or GTX. The Ultra is out of my price range.

Some of the cards have higher clock rates but the others have lower clock but more ram so which is fastest?

Has anyone done a review of the Asus range of cards and tabled the outcomes of each to show which is better?

    Thanks

        Re: Which graphics card???

I cannot give you a direct, conclusive answer to your question. Primarily because I don't know much about the specific family of products you ask. But as important is the fact you do not say what will be the purpose of the new computer? Browsing the Net? Gaming? CAD? All-purpose?
What I can give you is reviews of the three cards you mentioned. Take a look by yourself and decide what will be best for you:
        EN8800GT : http://www.elitebastards.com/cms/ind...=482&Itemid=27
        EN8800GTS : http://aphnetworks.com/reviews/asus_en8800gts_320mb
        EN8800GTX : http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.a...no=404#nowhere

        Good luck.

Thanks Spokie, it's gonna be a red-hot games machine, thus the need for an affordable but rocking grafx card.

The problem is that Asus has re-released its grafx cards under the same model numbers but with a 65, as opposed to 92 nm GPU. Thus, the model numbers do not reflect the card hierachy.

          Thanks.

            Re: Which graphics card???

I'm not sure if this will help much JD but if I'm building a gaming rig I tend to live by the guys at HardOCP http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?...hlbnRodXNpYXN0

This article reviews the ASUS GTS and compares it against a number of other cards on a variety of different factors and may get you on the right lines with the specifications.

If you havn't done already check the ASUS site they have some comparison charts:

LMFFAO @ first link. Nice easter egg there as well.

As for video cards, yep, HardOCP is a good start, as is:
              www.andandtech.com
              www.tomshardware.com
              www.arstechnica.com
www.houseofhelp.com (**cough** gotta pimp a site I've been member / admin of for over 7 years **cough**)

Main thing to know is that HardOCP reviews cards on how they play the games versus standard benchmarks.

                Ultra>GTX>GTS>GT

Ditch ASUS (because they suck) and get one from EVGA.

Do you have some facts to back up your opinions?

Ditto, Asus is a particular favourite of mine due to the 3 year warranty on most of their products. A manufacturer with crap devices is NOT going to offer a warranty of that duration as the returns would soon send them to the wall.

If you have a link or links to articles to support your post we would be very interested in reviewing them. Ta.
