  • Wireless connection protection

Awhile back there was a post about using special software to protect you from being monitored by anyone outside of your property when using a router, but I can no longer find it. I know reputable servers are alway supposed to supply this, but how can you check if you are fully protected, and if not what software is needed.

    Re: Wireless connection protection

There is no software that can "shield" the wireless radio signal. The wireless signal must be broadcast in order for your wireless clients to connect. What you want to do is enable security such as WPA to make sure that only your wireless clients connect to your wireless network. You could disable the broadcasting of the SSID and use MAC address filtering but this is not good security as the SSID is sent from the client to the WAP along with the wireless client MAC address so each are easily detectable and spoofed.
