  • McAfee ePO 3.6 delete legacy computers from sql database?

    Hi there

Got a problem with McAfee ePO 3.6, which sits on a MS SQL Server 2005 DB.

Basically, we have implemented a new domain but legacy machine records still exist within the ePO database, even though these machines no longer physically exist. So I have a long list of machines in the 'rogue systems' group which have in fact gone to the great domain in the sky.

Deleting them from ePO itself achieves nothing, shortly after they are repopulated into ePO from the SQL DB.

What I thought I could do is delete them from the database itself based on the last time the agent contacted the server. I called McAfee Gold Support, thinking it would be quick and easy for them to give me a sql script which removes all computers from the database whose agents have not contacted the server for 8 weeks or longer. But no, McAfee Gold Supprt staff are useless, at least the ones I get to speak to.

Does anyone know of a way to flush out these old records?

Or are they always imported in from the active directory, where records for legacy machines still exist even though the machine don't?

Is there a way round this?

It's really making reporting look dreadful.

    Hope to hear from someone.

ePO uses AD to import (or replicates) the computer accounts if configured.
If you're AD is messed up with old orphan computer accounts then ePO is also messed up.

    Clean up you're AD first.
SQL has nothing to do with this.

btw, afaik SQL 2005 is not supported by Mcafee.
It will be with ePO 4.
