  • How to tell if im using the most of my network card

    Hi all.
i have a IBM xSeries 235 server with 10/100/1000 network card (so the specification said).
when i properties the network card and choose "Speed and Duplex"
    it only shows me 10(HALF/FULL) or 100 (Half/full) , but not 1000 !
does it mean my network interface work slower that it could do ?
dou network speed problem i was advices to config my card to work purly on 1gig and not on Auto, but when i wanted to do so i could find the 1gig option...
could it be drivers ? could it be somthing eles ? or am I Looking at the wrong place.
    to make long story short,
how can i tell if i get the max out of my network interface card ?!
    thaks
    ravx

I always set my NIC's to Auto and it does the trick.

As for your other problem you may need to update the drivers for your card.

Plugging a gigabit card into a megabit port on a switch will also reduce its throughput.
      1 1 was a racehorse.
      2 2 was 1 2.
      1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
      2 2 1 1 2
