  • Cant setup Internet connection Sharing

I have Win XP pro instaled on desctop and notebook , alcatel speed touch modem upgraded to GV8BAA3.721 speed touch 510 , which connected to desctop computer .

Also i have WIFI realtek PCI card on desctop , and Toshiba mini pci LAN card on notebook.

Now , i am trying to set up wirelees network , between them .
I have configured desctop WIFI card with IP 192.168.0.10
    subnet 255.255.255.0

and notebook WIFI card with IP 192.168.0.11 and subnet 255.255.255.0

also i gave the same name of SSID of WIFI network , the same workgroup , channel number .

Than i enabled ICS on desctop for WIFI card .

Now they can see each other , share files and services , but i cant share internet connection .

    What can it be ?

Re: Cant setup Internet connection Sharing

In order for it to work you need to set it up similar to the following.

    Desktop:
    Nic1 - [Wired] 10.0.0.151/255.255.255.0, default gateway 10.0.0.138
Nic2 - [Wireless] 192.168.0.4/255.255.255.0, default gateway 10.0.0.151 (if this doesn't work try 10.0.0.13, DNS from ISP

    Laptop:
Nic1 - [Wireless] 192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.0.4, DNS from ISP.

You could try changing all the connections to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and then letting ICS (which includes a mini DHCP server) take care of all the configurations for you

i cant set IP 10.0.0.151 for NIC1 on desktop computer , because nic1 gets IP from modem . when i set IP manualy , i cant connect to modem .

Right, stupid me I just assumed you'd know better not change the dynamic IP assigned by your ISP. <slaps himself> grrrr
