  • Veritas Backup Exec 10.0

when we take a backup of exchange server 2003, (only 1 storage group) the backup fails with the error: e000fe34 - A checksum of the data has failed.

    Job scheduled is to backup:

    D: Exchsrvr
    Microsoft exchange mailboxes
    Microsoft exchange public folders
    Microsoft information store\First storage group

It backs up fine in the order shown above.....but when it is time to verify, it starts verifying in the following order:

Microsoft information store\First storage group : Fails and verify 0 bytes
    D: Exchsrvr : verify completed
Microsoft exchange mailboxes : verify fails but it does shows the total bytes verified (means i think it veified correctly)
Microsoft exchange public folders : verify fails but it does shows the total bytes verified (means i think it verified correctly)

It used to backup perfecty fine without any errors. But since a week, for some reason verify order has been changed and the backup status shows failed in the event log......

A good/successful back up had the same order of backup and Verify (hope i am making sense here)

I am curious to know, when i am backing up Exchsrvr, Mailboxes, public folders then is it necessarry to backup Information store\First storage group ?....

    Pls help.....

are you backing up to tape, could the tape be bad? can you test with a new tape.
