  • Changing ISP

    Hi guys,

We're planning to change our Internet Service Provider in the near future and I'm looking for some advice/guidelines, please. I have 5 servers on my LAN (Exchange, DNS/DHCP/DC, SQL, TS/Citrix/, File and Print). The advice I'm looking for is about Exchange and DNS. Anything else to change on Exchange beside MX records? Anything else to change on DNS beside forwarders?...
    Thank you.
    Regards,

    Florin

    Re: Changing ISP

    Hi

i would do it like that:

activate the new ISP account (leave the old one active) and change the settings to the new isp... mx record dns.. etc and check if every thing works and if yes deactivate the old one.

      Re: Changing ISP

I would also recommend having the new ISP change the PTR record to reflect the public A record for you Exchange server.

          Re: Changing ISP

I may be comming out of left field here.....

Is the public IP you are using now yours? as in have you had reserved?
It maynot be imporssible to change your ISP without changing your Public IP.

I assume you have a NATed environment? your servers etc have a private IP behind a router which has a public IP?
or is that not the situation
