  • Can I manually backup my SQL Server databases to reinstall SQL SERVER

I have SQL server installed, and cannot get into enterprise manager. I read information on how to fix the error it gives me when trying to access enterprise manager, but it doesn't help.

My question - can I manually backup my databases and then reintall SQL server, then create the databases again in enterprise manager and then copy those databases back into the database directory? Or will it only work with a backup/restore option in enterprise manager.

    Thanks!

IIRC you need to create the database first (file names / locations) and then copy the old files in. I've done that with small (log and db file only) databsases and I think it will work with multiple files and filegroups
