  • Cant ping new machine on network

    Hi,

Working on our network, which consists of mostly Windows 2000, and Windows XP machines. Added a new XP machine today, this one has a static IP address that it was assigned. It is on the same subnet, gateway and domain as my 2000 machine. For some reason, I cant ping the machine by address or name. It can ping my machine though.

I need to be able to use VNC to this machine, but for some reason, I cant even ping it. I can even see it in 'My Network Places' under our network of computers, but it wont let me open it there either.

Anyone have any ideas what might be going on here, or why I cant ping this machine? Also tried pinging it from other computers on network, without any luck.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

Never mind, Windows Firewall was enabled, blocking my Ping requests!
