  • How to identify the computer from which Print command is issued in LAN environment?

In a LAN environment suppose there are 50 computers connected to each other and one printer is attached to all of them as a Network Printer. Now if someone gives a print command (say about 20 pages) how do I find from the printer who has issued the print command. Is there any software available that will print in every page the name of computer and/or its IP address. Please reply

Check the event logs. If configured properly it will log an event.

Typically these are logged under Event ID 10 and source Print. It will tell you who printed and what document they printed.

Also consider a print server, so clients do not connect directly to the printer (by IP). This will allow centralised logging.
