  • 2.5" vs 3.5" harddrives

    Hi guys

My new server will feature 4 physical drives in total.
    2 x 300gb SAS drives which is the 3.5" 15k 6gt/s mirrored and
    2 x 900gb SAS drives which is 2.5" 10k 6gt/s mirrored

Perc H710 raid controller with 512mb cache

Are there any issues with the above mentioned configuration in terms of reliability/performance/durabilty and ruggedness?

Apparently dell cannot give the 900g sas drives in 3.5"
Which is better for servers 3.5" or 2.5" ?

    thanks

I doubt if it makes a difference -- 2.5" will be lower power consumption
