  • Asus TAICHI - Boot from usb problem.

    Hi folks,
Iv`e tried to run a clean install on my new Asus TAICHI but with no luck.

Since the TAICHI is a thin laptop he got no CD-DRIVE which force me to install the new Windows from a USB device... Iv`e tried to connect a USB drive, DOK with no luck... its seems the system doesn't recognize the USB devices on BIOS, but recognize it via Windows.

    Any idea?

    P.S
The asus is brand new, unboxed today.

Is the system set to boot from the USB key??

Do you get an option to select the boot device at startup??

Have you tried pressing F12 from POST and one?
Have you gone into the BIOS and set the boot sequence to boot from USB first?
I find it difficult to believe the machine won't boot from a USB DVD device.
        1 1 was a racehorse.
        2 2 was 1 2.

Can you give an exact model number?

Possibly a red herring, but I used to work with Toshiba laptops without optical drives and they would only boot from an approved list of USB drives-- I had a LaCie DVD drive which had to be switched from one mode to another to be bootable
