I see you can buy a 64 GB flash drive for some 22 now on EBay at

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1109042762...sid=p5197.m462

Someone told me it needs 8 GB to record say a 2 hour film on a modern TV that have the USB ports. Is that about correct? If so no wonder it is hard to buy a Video recorder now especially as Freeview is widespread in th UK.

    Re: Flash Drives

I would be somewhat wary of cheap flash drives -- there have been cases of 2nd (or 3rd) quality components being used.

Having said that, my local supplier has 64Gb Intenso for 25 so maybe not so bad a deal.

Do video recorders still exist PVRs (with a hard drive, like Sky+) seem to be the way ahead.

      Re: Flash Drives

I am especially wary of buying flash drives from eBay, I've seen more than one that has all manner of malware on it. If you do buy one from eBay I'd insist on it being factory sealed and would only buy from a very reputable seller.

        Re: Flash Drives

One of our members of staff bought a cheap 32GB stick for personal use. That resulted in me spending a morning retrieving GB's of lost data from it when the stick couldn't be read by Windows after it was used just once.

I think you pay for what you get. I would go with cruachan's advice.
