  • 1x8GB or 2x4GB?

working on a quoet at the moment.
I initially requested 2x4GB chips. It seems someone else has changed it to 1x8GB chips.

if it matters, 1333Mhz, dual ranked, 1 processor.
I thought it was supposed to be paired, so I shold either have 2x8, or 2x4 ?

Andy, are you sure you can actually get a single 8GB module? I am more inclined to think an 8GB Kit is actually 2 x 4GB modules. Good luck finding 8GB modules.
    1 1 was a racehorse.
    2 2 was 1 2.
    1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
    2 2 1 1 2

8 GB sticks are definitely out there, Corsair's got a bunch of sets for the upcoming CPUs.

What's the quote for, a desktop, a server or a laptop? Depending on the CPU you may want 2 sticks, or 3, or even 4.

was a server.. and i assume, since he put 1x8 in the quote, that he could do them ;P

we ended up goin with 2x4 cause he couldn't give me a solid reason for 1x8

Have you got a link for that as all I can find is 2 x 4GB. Not doubting just having Google Foo issues at the moment (and many other moments as well )

Never mind, my Google Foo has returned!! Click image for larger version

Price is quite good. Purchased 4 x 2GB DDR2 Kingston last week and that cost AUD$104 so US$117 for 1 x 8GB DDR3 is really not too bad. Now just need a motherboard and fill it up with those bad boys.
