  • Anyone using an RD1000?

    Hi,

If so, do you know if the cartridges can be used with a conventional sata > usb powered adapter? Might have a dodgy RD1000 device and want to check the image of possible but the disk wont initialise.

I installed a couple of them a few months back when Dell had them on promo. Never tried them with an adapter. However I do know that there are standard drives inside the caddies, so there's no reason why the drives shouldn't work that way. Can't actually remember what sort of connector is on the cartridge though.

      hi,

      thanks for your reply.

It's a standard SATA connection with a locked and unlocked switch which i guess is to write protect the drive. Tried connecting one up with a SATA to usb convertor which finds and installs the disk but then wont initialise.
