  • Poweredge 2600 not loading, logical drive fail.

Please help, DELL PowerEdge 2600 will not load:

    reads:

1 LOGICAL DRIVES FOUND ON HOST ADAPTER.
    1 LOGICAL DRIVES FAILED
1 LOGICAL DRIVES HANDLED BY BIOS
CONFIGURATION OF NVRAM AND DRIVES MISMATCHED (NORMAL MISMATCH)
    USER CONFIGURATION....

I am a not very knowledgeable when it comes to hardware, i have googled and followed instructions to number the drives until the mismatch no longer appears however this did not seem to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Logical Drive failure usually means that the RAID configuration has been lost. There may be options and/or more information in the RAID BIOS, the shortcut to access this will appear on screen during POST.

If the server is under warranty I'd strongly recommend calling Dell and getting them to talk you through what to do. Even if it isn't, if the server has critical data on it I'd consider an out of warranty call. I'd drives are assume that the meant to be in RAID5 but there is no way of knowing if there are faulty drives, a faulty controller or just a config issue (E.g. flat RAID controller backup battery can cause these types of errors) without more information.
