  • IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

    Hey Folks,

I downloaded this "UPDATE" from Microsoft and since then, my sound does not work.

I have a C-Media Sound Card with the CMI-8738 4 Channel without SPDIF ver 1.58 Driver.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

    Is it un-installable?
Can you give us the KB number for the update?

Sorry, I do not know/have the KB number.
It was included in all those MS updates.

I'll try to find it and report back in a few.

          Hey Tom,

I could not find the KB number.

I am using WinXP Media Center 2005 fully patched with SP1.
I did not download MS Live Search update because I have no idea of its use/benefits.
Did not download the IE 8 update.

Those are the only 2 MS Updates that have not been installed.

Is there a speaker icon in your taskbar?

Is your audio device displayed in Device Manager? Any problems highlighted?

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control

Does that open, or give an error? If it opens, what is shown in the bottom left of the window?

Yep the Speaker Icon is in the Task Bar, there aren't any error messages, speaker volume is turned up both on the hard ware and the software level. Speakers are plugged in and have been tested with another system so they DO work. Nothing is muted.

This only happened after this IDT Codec Driver was installed when I did SP3.

Solution found a few days ago:

Right Click on the IDT Driver and DISABLE !!!!!!

                All works well.
