  • PSU + Motherboard

    I bought this motherboard
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128387

    With this power supply
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006

    The motherboard manual is here
    http://america.gigabyte.com.tw/FileL...90x-ud4p_e.pdf

On page 24 it shows an ATX_12V_2X4 connection. I have been reading on this and from what I have read it looks like this connection is required. I read that you AT LEAST have to have a 2x2 connector here. It does not look like this PSU I purchased has this connector. I have not built a computer for years so I am not in the know at the moment.

My question is will this PSU work or is there an adapter I can buy or something. Im hoping one of you pros out there knows for sure.

    Thanks

    Re: PSU + Motherboard

I think it won't work. It doesn't appear to have the required +12v connector.

I would suggest calling or emailing newegg to find out what PS you need to purchase for this mobo.

Hmmmmm.....I just found a thread on a different forum (dont know if im allowed to post it) that says EPS12V is the name of the connector. The name of the motherboard says ATX12V / EPS12V so it should have both connectors but it doesn't show them on the list. I guess ill just have to wait till I get it and see.

I am just curious why you say I can ONLY use the 2 x 2. Is that because this PSU only has a 2 x 2? Why would they have a 2 x 4 connector on the motherboard if you can only hook up a 2x2 to it? Unless you meant that a 2 x 2 AND and 2 x 4 would work. Just curious what you meant by that.

I'm sorry, there is missing a word there , so it will be " if you can only use 2 x 2, it will work with no problems". sorry about my typing
