A whole massive amount of information to go on!

The only answer to that is"maybe".

Are you replacing with the same type or what?
    cheers

Well, you will probably need a new processor (depending on the socket) and fan
        Also possibly new RAM
        Drives should still be OK

If this is a consolation, you could still use the old screws

Not normally -- you would have a choice of processor that would fit the socket on your motherboard. Sometimes you are offered a "bundle" of MoBo and Processor

Suggestion -- if you do not know much about PC upgrades, do NOT buy on ebay -- pay a little more at a local shop and get something you know will work and have some support.

Suggestion 2 -- get the shop to do the upgrade

PLV829, could you turn this thread into something more than drip feed information.

If you tell us the make and model of your present motherboard and the make and model of your Ebay board then we can provide specific info. Info with "with intel p4 something like that" is totally useless.

Please be specific. Also, with a newer motherboard you may need newer RAM but without model numbers of the board who knows.

                2 2 was 1 2.

                  TBH biggles,

I think plv should follow Ossian's advice..

                  If your asking things like:

then you clearly don't know about different types of memory and processor sockets..

And IMHO, shows that you shouldn't really be buying stuff off eBay and trying to put it together..

That is not to say that you shouldn't try to learn new things

If you are trying to learn, please, don't let me/us stop you, just i'd highly recommend the you do some more research first mate..

Re: when you get motherboard from ebay

Well, we STILL have absolutely NO idea what memory or processor you have at the moment, so I would hate to say you can just "pop in the new one"
But assuming it is the same make and model, you are probably OK

And the best of luck to you
