    Hi
    I am using windows 2003 server ent. edition.I use ntbackup tool in it.last time when i tried to take a backup it gave an error "no new/free media found". so I ejected the dat (DDS3) in it . but after that the status led blinking constantly .I rebooted the server also but the same thing is happening .the led doesn't stop blinking. the dat drive is sony sdt9000 model. now i am unable to take the backup

    According to your hardware's user manual, this means "Selftest failure" (page 12).
    It is definitely not server-related, but the tape drive itself.
    If you can, shutdown the server, turn off the drive. Wait few seconds, turn it on again. Let it finish the self-test. If it passes, turn on the server too. If it doesn't detach it from the server, turn on the server and call the drive's assistance.

        Had a Sony DDS2 that liked flashing when it needed the cleaning tape. Also has one that was faulty and needed replaced.
        1 1 was a racehorse.
        2 2 was 1 2.
        1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
        2 2 1 1 2
