  • outlook 2003/2007 folder size limit

    Hi,

I've a company with EXCHANGE 2003 ENT SP2,that some of them have mailbox size more then 15GB and one of them have size of 32GB.
all users can see every mailbox in the company,an when they view the users with the large mailboxes they experience slow outlook open(those big mailboxes have more then 70,000 items in there Inbox and the same amount of items in the sub-folder).
my question is what is the folder limit size/Items that outlook can handle nicely(or Microsoft recommendation)?

    THX

The generally accepted figure seems to be 5000 items per folder:

Had a user with 5,3xx items in the Inbox and was having serious problems. Got him to create Folders and keep the number under 5,000 and no more trouble. Sembee put me onto that one.
