  • Word Templates: Inserting an image into a field

    Morning all

Part of our business process involves producing barcode labels to accompany our products before shipping to certain customers. Naturally, each customer has to be difficult and wants their labels to be in a specific format. Some will go as far as to reject anything that isn't supplied with a barcode label in exactly the right format - as you can imagine, that is something we don't want to happen. Up until now, only a selected few users have been allowed to create the barcode labels, and they have been trained in the exact method required to do so.

However, I want to create Word templates for each format which will allow someone to enter the required text data, and also to insert the barcode images. Our barcoding software produces GIF images which we drag into the Word document.

I've got the text fields working fine but haven't had much luck with inserting a field that users can insert an image into once the sheet is protected.

Can anybody suggest how to do this? The answers I've seen on Google have been incomplete at best.

We're running a mix of Office 2003/2007 with all installations fully up to date according to WSUS.

    Thanks in advance

Have word create the Barcode itself instead of dragging an image of the barcode.
    What format 3of9, 128?

Check out these guys for 128
and this for 3 of 9

Thanks for the link - unfortunately I've already tried that one (Code 128 add-in for Word) and the barcodes it produces don't work :/

The attached PDF shows the required format (this is a scan of a previously prepared label, hence the poor quality). The Word document needs a decent margin at the top and bottom as the A4 copy is printed on our company letterhead paper. There is also a copy printed on an A5 label.
