  • if formula

    One of my users has a spreadsheet with names of banks in the F column... Some of the rows have the same bank name... She wants to write an IF formula in column G stating;

    If True; IF NAMES IN COLUMN F ARE DUPLICATE then insert the word dupe...

    If False; IF NAME IN COLUMN F ARE NOT DUPLICATE then do nothing

    Can this be accomlished

    thanks

    Re: if formula

    You could try using the COUNTIF function embedded in the IF function
    Assume bank names are in F2 to F100
    G2: =IF(COUNTIF(F$2:F$100,F2)>1,"Dupe","")
    G3: =IF(COUNTIF(F$2:F$100,F3)>1,"Dupe","")

    Tested and works in Excel 2007
