  • Newbie Excel 2000 Multiplication Formula Question

I would like to have an excel spreadsheet in which two of the columns are related in such a way that any number entered in , say column A , will be multiplied by 6.25 and the result appear in the same row in , say column B.

I've tried several combinations for inserting formula in column B such as " =A1*6.25 " but all this seems to do is work for an entry in cell A1 but not in the subsequent entries in A2,A3 ,A4....etc.
I thought these formulae changed when the rows changed .

Oviously I've misunderstood something basic here - any help would be appreciated.

They will change automatically when you copy and paste the formula from B1 down to the other rows.

      Thanks.

I thought they changed automatically as you moved down the rows. I must be confusing that with some other aspect of Excel formulae.

      I'll do as you say.
