  • Powerpoint 2010

A user was sent a PPTX file that they are to open from c:\ but not outlook or the desktop.

    Windows XP SP3 32bit.

When it opens from Outlook/Desktop they get the error message "Cannot find C:\documents".

Hitting CRTL+SHIFT+I shows the numbers 400019 on all the error messages.

This continues for the full file location and name.

It looks like the file has local resources that it uses that aren't available.

Use the package function to save everything to one directory and then they should be able to send a zipped file if it's not too large.

In step 10 select "Copy to folder".

      Re: Powerpoint 2010

Now if I save the file right to c:\ it will open fine, but desktop or outlook it wont.

Are you saying there's linked content in the Powerpoint?

        Re: Powerpoint 2010

That was my guess but I might be misunderstanding the question. I thought the file was received through email.

Now that I look at the error messages it seems to be trying to execute each section of the path separated by the spaces in the full path. I would venture to say that if you put the file in any directory with a space in it you would get an error. Not sure what's causing this though.

It was received through email, but if you open it from the root of the C: drive, it opens fine, I'm trying to figure out why it wont open the from the desktop or outlook when so far everything else will.
