  • x86 vs x64 For performance issues

    Hi,
Something that's been in the back of my mind for a while and Ive never asked the question, performance with Office applications - would you say upgrading to x64 Office apps should in theory be able to handle more throughput\number crunching than x86 given the obvious? Or would you say that generally its not going to resolve the problem and there are other underlying factors causing it to slow\crash. Generally this is a finance user who has many spread sheets and workbooks open? Thanks

Not sure about performance, but many add-ins do NOT behave with x64 Office, so AFAIK Microsoft's advice is to stick with x86

I'm fairly certain the Microsoft recommends using the 32 bit versions of Office.
