  • Ol2007 - Forwarded message - sender as Hyperlink

when messages are forwarded to my client, they show up with the sender of the email as a hyper link, ie

From: Joe Bloggs [mailto: [email protected]]

When we click on that hyperlink to reply to the email, it adds it to the cached address book (nk2) as a mail type "mailto" rather than SMTP, which means we can't reply.

I can sort this out for individual addresses, by changing it from mailto to smtp (easy enough here) however, we obviously want to stop it happening.

so far I have confirmed that this happens with all forwarded (and only forwarded) emails, and isn't affecting anyone else.

I've made sure that the url:mailto file association exists and is as linked as described here
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312346

further.. I've checked the user's inbox via OWA and can see the same thing, however it doesn't come up as a hyperlink in OWA.

    any thoughts ?

Tehcamel, I have seen the same issue happening in outlook 2007. I have only seen it a few times, most of the time everything is working fine. All of the few times I saw it happen was also with the cached address book. I have not found a solution for the issue.
