  • Tabs in MS Word 2007

    Hello

My Pa uses Office 2007 Home, and has an issue with tabs in Word. I've had a quick look online and have downloaded the MS video showing how to use/create/delete tabs but it does not go far enough.

    His issue is this:

His document will have text at different places in the same section using different tabs. When he deletes a tab from the ruler the tab stop is removed. However, cursor down one line and the tab stop reappears on the ruler.

    Is this supposed to happen?

He simply wants to make the ruler less cluttered. Is there a way to remove a tab stop completely so that it does not reappear when cursoring up or down one line? His document is a book that he has been working on years and which has 950 pages. It's a technical reference and contains many lists etc requiring tabs.

Can anyone explain how this might be achieved, please?

    Thanks

Yes, Word has a lot of catching up to do on WordPerfect. 'sigh'

Have a look at the following and see if that helps. Otherwise if is F1 and ask the question. "How do I remove all tab stops from a page"

      Hi, biggles77

      Thanks for answering.

Yep, I'd seen this too, but it does the same - cursor up or down and the tabs are back. Bizarre behaviour!

MS Word Help is no good for this, so I'll ask on MS's site and see if I can get some assistance there.

      Cheers!

I'm pretty sure he is. I usually make sure his machine and software are up to date when I see him. I'll get him to check.

          Thanks.
